Whew, the air sure is thick with new year’s resolutions and intentions.
Some people scoff at the tradition or feel discouraged by it when they fail to live up to the bar they’ve set – I’ve certainly failed at my resolution game plenty of times myself, but I still love it, magically speaking.
Why?
Because cultivating an unstoppable will is one of the greatest magical assets one can have, and new year’s resolutions are a great way to work on cultivating my unstoppable will.
What’s an unstoppable will?
It’s the ability to put a high quality and large quantity of power behind our decisions. It’s the ability to go for something relentlessly, with my whole being.
It means that you say to yourself “I’m going to do this thing” (recover fully from an illness, start your own business, write a novel, learn to deeply receive praise and love)….
….and then you go and you do it.
As you practice this skill of doing what you say you’re going to do (a rare, rare skill indeed!) your whole soul eventually starts to believe you and get on-board with all its creative force the moment that you declare something.
This habit of doing what you damn well say you’re going to do is a major key to the whole “affirmations” game that many magical people miss. Especially magical people who happen to be my ex-boyfriends.
Affirmations can definitely work, but they only work if your whole soul trusts in your word to begin with.
Your soul is always with you. You can’t trick it. If you’re constantly saying you’re going to do stuff, and then you don’t do it, it stops believing in you. It’s like a little kid that gets disappointed and goes and sulks in her room.
If you don’t have habit of doing what you say you’re going to do, why the hell would your soul believe you when you state an affirmation? It can’t even believe you when you say you’re going to make the bed.
So I say, give your soul a reason to trust you. Declare that you’re going to do something that you know you definitely can and will do. And then do it.In older eras, it was widely understood that “you’re only as good as your word” – meaning, if you don’t consistently do what you say you’re going to do, then you lack integrity, you’re not trustworthy, and no one has a reason to believe you, not even yourself.
That may sound like simple folk wisdom, but the quality of your word has giant magical consequences.
What to do if your word is out of integrity?
Repair the situation. Make an inventory of situations where you’ve been untruthful with yourself and others, ask yourself what you were trying to “get” by being untruthful, ask yourself how you can best put the situation aright, and then make those amends.
Also, it’s best to start cultivating the power and integrity of your word by deliberately declaring something that’s in the realm of what you actually want to do as opposed to something you think you should do.
So for example – don’t declare that you’re going to do yoga every day if you’re not really that into it (even though your friends are all into it and you feel like you “should” be too).
Maybe instead start by declaring that you’re going to take a walk to your favorite coffee shop every day. And then, of course – do it.
(At least that works for me, I’m highly motivated by caffeine.)
Overtime, as your soul trusts you more, it will put more and more energy into making your declarations happen.
That’s when it becomes fun to tackle those tougher challenges, because then you trust the power of your will and you’re excited to see what you can do – and your whole soul gets on board with you the moment make the decision to go after something..
It’s a wonderful thing to have your conscious mind working in concert with your soul.
When you’ve got that going on, you’re unstoppable.
love and wickedness,

Happy to have stumbled across this sight. I’ve enjoyed many pages and your point of view. Loved the one on shadow work, it’s the one that brought me here. This one too resonates deeply. I’ve been digging deep to find my willpower for years and focus can be hard to find.
