While we will be teaching some more straightforward “manifestation” practices in the MONEY course…
The foundation of all magic is soulcraft.
The #1 reason money magic fails is that it aims excessively at “direct manifestation”—focusing solely on wealth, abundance, and dollar amounts. This approach is sort of like trying to plant seeds without tilling the soil.
The practice we’ll be doing today, called “Gratitude for Our Debts,” is a tilling of the soil. It simultaneously:
- heals inner obstacles to receiving money (by alchemizing resentment, which takes up the same kind of psychic space that money does—since money is actually made of resentment, i.e. debt)
- deepens your personal intimacy with the spirit of Money (and therefore begins to open your soul up to consciously receiving her medicinal lessons)
- and begins shifting your relationship to the pain of incarnating into this dirty world of finance and duality (which both deepens your empathic connection with Money as a banished spirit, and also makes your life down on earth just more damn pleasant)
The practice goes like this:
Step #1: Write down the name of a person or institution that you feel has taken something from you. (A boyfriend who dumped you, a religion that robbed you of your shame-free innocence, a government who took your hard-earned income, etc.)
Step #2: Now write out the full extent of the hurt and harm you feel they’ve caused. Don’t skip over this step with any sort of pre-emptive spiritual responsibility-taking—this is the time for self-indulgent, shamelessly blame-filled victimhood. Allow yourself to fully feel the pain of how they wronged you.
Step #3: Now write a thank-you letter to the very same person or institution, expressing every drop of gratitude for the gifts that their crime against you has granted you.
Step #4: Finish your practice by writing out, and then speaking out loud, the following prayer to the spirit of Money:
Dear Money,
Thank you for your sacred gift,
And for enduring your eternal fate among us for it.
I share your pain of heartbreak and of loss,
And promise not to waste it.
Today I commit to living fully,
To giving, fully,
And to receiving, fully,
Nourished by your example,
And aided in my practice by your banished soul within this world.
Show me when to give you,
Where to receive you,
And how to enjoy you,
Lest your glorious sacrifice be wasted.
