Saturn in Sagittarius square with Neptune in Pisces
Saturn in Sagittarius square with Neptune in Pisces looks to be bringing with it growing awareness of extremist terror attacks of all stripes (from the IS attacks in Paris to the mass shootings on school campuses in America and everything up and down and in between).
Astrologer Lesley Hale gives a fascinating analysis of how this astrological event relates to the birth chart of the United States and writes: “We have entered into a weird and changeable period as the Saturn /Neptune square becomes exact, and this will change our lives as well as world we live in. I first began writing about this powerful square in 2014, and events are now shifting and changing on the world stage as individuals, countries, nations, politicians and governments realize they have not been looking at many situations in a clear and effective manner, and it is time to make changes on many levels. We will see confused, contorted political candidates, issues, and in many ways wrong judgments will be apparent, and it is possible wrong decisions or policies can be implemented during this time that will have to change again.”
2. Sexy sexy time romantic fantasy
Admit it, you’ve been fantasizing about your crush at more operatic levels than usual, haven’t you?
Well, if you’re anything like me you have.
Also, I know that everyone is still rightly overwhelmed with Adele’s latest album, but let’s not forget the newly arrived dark delight of Lana Del Rey’s Honeymoon.
So I thought it was just because he’s somehow getting hotter – but as it turns out those cosmic lovers, Mars and Venus, are close together in Libra, the sign of relationships right now.
And Neptune, the planet that governs dreams and fantasies is its potent place of rulership – Pisces, the sign of dissolution and delusion.
So with Neptune in Pisces and Mars and Venus in Libra, fantasy and delusion and sweet, sweet dreams are running high.
Now I’m not complaining, but I am struggling to keep things in perspective. Also, don’t let me sound too cynical – Neptunian dreams can be delusional, but what with the square with Saturn in Sagittarius, there’s also the potential for an actual sea-change right now: a gigantic, real transformation.
Here’s the passage of Shakespeare’s play The Tempest (arguably his most magical romantic epic) where the phrase “sea-change” comes from… these words are sung by the spirit Ariel to Ferninand, whose father has apparently just drowned:
“Full fathom five thy father lies / Of his bones are coral made / Those are pearls that were his eyes, Nothing of him that doth fade / But doth suffer a sea-change / into something rich and strange / Sea-nymphs hourly ring his knell. / Ding-dong.”
So a sea-change is a deep, mysterious metamorphosis of something dead into something fresh and beautiful — bones into coral, eyes into pearls.
3. Next World Tarot by Cristy C. Road
Autostraddle calls it “the tarot deck of your queer punk dreams” and wow are they spot-on about that.
The artist remarks,
“Aside from bringing another deck to the world, I’m excited to create a deck that illustrates a blend of mind and body outcasts. The deck originated as a “Queer Deck,” so being generally non-normative as far as gender representation is a huge part of it; but its definitely grown since that.
I want to focus on people’s cultural and subcultural backgrounds, I want to blur fundamentalist spirituality, but maintain a lot of the traditional concepts behind the images.”
The Next World Tarot by Cristy C. Road is still in the process of being painted and produced, so you can go to the artist’s Kickstarter to support it.
4. The Last Witch Hunter movie
It’s a movie. About a guy who hunts and kills witches. And that guy, as played by master of subtlety Vin Diesel, is the hero.
If your first thought upon hearing this is – WHAT THE FUCK – then you friend, are not alone, and I encourage you to submit your essays outlining the exact nature of your outrage to badwitcheseditor@gmail.com.
I’ll get us started:
You know, because the last time witch hunts were cool was a giant evil lethal wave of persecution against women and free-thinking magical people in general – often known as the burning times – and gee whiz, don’t we need some more inspiration to hurt women and free-thinking magic people in general?
Were the burning times really that bad? Didn’t just a few people burn one or two witches? Why no, it was a full-scale genocide as our friend Wikipedia reminds us:
“Over the entire duration of the phenomenon of some three centuries, an estimated total of between 40,000 and 60,000 people were executed.
Among the best known of these trials were the Scottish North Berwick witch trials, Swedish Torsåker witch trials and the American Salem witch trials. Among the largest and most notable were the Trier witch trials (1581–1593), the Fulda witch trials (1603–1606), the Würzburg witch trial (1626–1631) and the Bamberg witch trials (1626–1631).”
In other words, the time of witch hunts and trials was a full-on terrorist attack that took the lives of at least 40,000 witches.
So of course we should have a movie glorifying this forgotten past-time of killing witches, right?
Hmmmmmm I don’t think anyone would find it cool to have a mainstream movie titled The Amazing Heroic Jew-Slayer or It’s Fun and Brave to Kill Christians!
5. The Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour
I never get tired of listening to catherine yyronwode, proprietress of the Lucky Mojo Curio Company discuss all dimensions of Hoodoo with her co-host ConjureMan Ali and their guests.
Plus, they give live tarot readings to callers who call in! How cool is that? It makes me so happy. I imagine this is a similar kind of happiness that some people get from listening to NPR. I feel all soothed and glad, like listening to dear old magical friends.
“The Lucky Mojo Hoodoo Rootwork Hour is a real, live call-in show where the general public gets a chance to ask about actual problems with love, career, and spiritual protection, and we recommend and fully describe hoodoo rootwork spells to address, ameliorate, and remediate their issues. You will learn a lot just by listening — but if you call in and your call is selected, you will get a free consultation from two of the finest workers in the field, cat yronwode and ConjureMan Ali.”
