Some of us have no desire to do glittery dances in white dresses with fairy wings. Some of us want to go dark and deep, plunge into the mysteries, ride our blood dreams and be bold. For those of us that feel so compelled I ask you to unveil your true self; do not be shy….consider a new title: Sorceress.
A Sorceress sounds so much sexier than Witch or Priestess. A Sorceress sounds so much more powerful than Magician; because she is.
She is the woman who wraps the snake around her shoulders, runs with wolves, dances naked in the moonlight, speaks with ghosts, and goes hunting for herbs and mushrooms underneath the full moon, and has learned that to empower herself is not a bad thing but what life is all about.
A Sorceress knows the power of the Dark Moon. She understands that there is a time every month designated for contemplation and to help her eliminate or banish from her that which no longer serves her higher self.
A Sorceress is not afraid of shadows or things that go bump in the night for she realizes that she is part of all things, light and dark, furry and scaly, death and life and joy and sorrow.
A Sorceress is not “grossed out” by her menstruation; she embraces it and uses it to send her on shamanic journeys to the underworld and other planes. She offers her own blood to her garden or land to make things grow, or to protect her home, to magnify her magical objects, or as the highest offering she can give to the Goddess or Gods.
She feels sexy at all times of her life, and does not let society make her feel guilty or “rob her of her power”.
A Sorceress know that pelts of animals or bones of creatures helps her connect to them better, that these are just objects they left behind she does not deem them creepy she sees them as beautiful; and works with these creatures to expand her knowledge of the planet she is living on.
A Sorceress realizes when she claims her title that not everyone will understand it but all will know she has stepped into her personal power and that the price of this might be fear from some but respect from many.
A Sorceress owns her sh**! She does not blame others for her life, or automatically assume someone hexed her. She realizes that all of life goes in cycles, and what comes up must come down.
She understands that all of magick is not white or black but shadowy – shades of grey, and that she decides what color it is exactly.
So whether it be gathering dead frogs during mating season to make flying balms, or gathering cicada shells for a metamorphosis spell, she does not shiver or walk away from that which is considered “creepy” or “dark” she knows that those things that are considered naughty or taboo might have the most “oomph”.

I claimed the title Sorceress last year, and it was an amazingly powerful and freeing thing to do!
