THIS WEEK IN MAGIC (8.21.2015)

Maybe I’m biased. Maybe I haven’t been reading enough magical news recently. Or, maybe there’s been some pretty cool stuff going on recently.

*Street artist Banksy isn’t explicitly magical, but come on – just look at his new “bemusement park”, Dismaland. I’m pretty sure this place is some sort of gateway to an alternate reality.

The Living Goddess is a new book by Isabella Tree, about the Kumari tradition in Nepal. Kumaris are young girls who are worshipped as incarnations of the Goddess, and this book sounds really respectful and interesting (apparently the tradition has flourished again as a response to the recent earthquakes and political changes). Plus, there are some great pictures on the article page. (via The Wild Hunt)

Ok, maybe you do know who’s calling when the phone rings, says science finally. Dr. Rupert Sheldrake has been running studies that seem to confirm a “guess” rate much higher than chance would account for. Watch the video if you have time. (via The Daily Grail)

Want to visit the Kaxinawa tribe in Brazil and participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony? Here’s an essay contest offering to cover many expenses for the winner to travel there in November.

You can make instant ramen noodle packs at home (and they look fancy and delicious)? This is definitely witchcraft.
